ARTISTIC VISION
and some History

“My life’s purpose is to work tirelessly for world peace
through my poetry, music, and art.
 Paul Lloyd Warner

Paul Lloyd Warner has dedicated his life to a new and fresh vision for music, one founded upon the noblest instincts in humanity, a music of the spirit. Spirituality has been expressed in music throughout history. Music makers were inspired to create spiritual and healing music from the dawn of civilization. Singing, chanting, and folk music led the way to choral music with its motets, masses and requiems.

Then there is opera, art song, the songs of all religions, enchanting prayers, Zen music, monks chanting in monasteries around the world, praying out loud and instrumental healing music.  Our musical heritage glorifies spirituality at its highest.  Hearing this music throughout his life has molded Paul into the man and artist he is today.

In the early 1970s, Paul composed piano music for healing, and spiritual renewal. Consequently, he is acknowledged as one of the founders of "New Age Music". As Paul evolved artistically he gathered his own style, that genre between new age and classical music. By the early 1990s, Paul transitioned from piano to synthesizers and began making music with a symphonic flair. By 1993 Paul had traveled far and wide around the western United States, drove into the wilderness and set up his electronic keyboards in nature, sometimes far off in the wilderness. As he moved from coast to desert, to rolling hills and mountains and waterfalls, he began creating new music that fused both the new age and classical styles together in a fresh way. The Symphonic Suites came out of this period. Recorded in the Great Outdoors, a few in National Parks or way out in the wilderness, near a waterfall, high up in a mountain valley, overlooking the Grand Canyon, or Monument Valley, for example.

Eventually Paul found a way to bring his music directly to the court of public opinion by self distributing his works in fairs, festivals, exhibitions, and art shows throughout the United States. He started in the San Francisco Bay area, then extended to Southern California, Arizona, and the Pacific Northwest. Later he ventured to the East Coast, the South, Texas, Florida, Arizona and Mountain States. Wherever Paul traveled, he found genuine public enthusiasm overwhelmingly endorsing his music, buying hundreds of thousands of CDs and cassettes.

Paul continued to traveled the country, taking his recording studio with him everywhere. Paul Lloyd Warner performing by the London Bridge in Lake Havasu, Arizona, 1991During the midweek, between the weekend shows, he went to beautiful nature locations to record music. The keyboards and digital recording equipment were taken by four wheel drive into nature. Powered by truck batteries, converted from DC to AC power, Paul had the honor and privilege to be the first composers to record directly in nature utilizing multiple keyboards with a professional, yet portable, digital recording studio.

Paul says: Paul in August 2010. Photograph by AJ Goodwin“Just imagine what it's like to be fully setup with a temporary recording studio in the mountains, near a waterfall, with magnificent views all around. The fragrance of pines, feeling the beauty all around me makes my music soar to new heights.  This is where my music is born, in the beauty of nature, in my contact with nature as a child. When one plays music directly in nature, it feels like an immersion of soul and nature occurring in the moment of musical inspiration, opening my heart and mind to appreciate all the beauty around me, exalting my soul to ever new thresholds in music creation.”

From 1984 to 1995, over one million copies of Paul’s music was sold directly to the public. This is considered a success for personalized one to one direct public sales. In a 12 year period, Paul estimates he spoke directly with one million people.  Several million listeners throughout the world have heard Paul’s music on LP, cassette and CD, millions more on radio, Internet. In 1995 after 12 years on the road, Paul stopped traveling. He was exhausted, but elated, needing a long sabbatical. Now, in 2010, his works are newly collected and are reissued with more to come.

Paul, now in his early 70s, remains a visionary, continues to affirm positive thinking as a way of life, believes in universal respect and understanding. He proclaims his incredible love for humanity with all his heart. To this day he lives life as a hardworking artist for world peace with freedom for all.                            Top of Page
